The adult fleas will be dead in 2 minutes.
To eliminate the fleas in other stages of life cycle, vacuum the house. The eggs will hatch and the fleas will emerge from the cocoon.
Use the spray again to kill the hatched fleas. This is an important step in complete elimination of the fleas. As any preventative measure is ineffective unless the eggs have hatched. The fleas can survive a long time in this inert stage. The vibrations from the vacuum cleaner forces them to hatch and grow.
